Campus Parent Absence Request Tool - an online option to report absences

The Campus Parent Absence Request Tool is a function within Infinite Campus (IC) that improves the reporting of excused absences for families. Families can use the Campus Parent Absence Request tool to report same-day or upcoming absences with ease. We encourage you to use this new system. But don't worry, the old system is available to continue using if you prefer. 

• You can access this tool within the Campus Parent app or website. Specific instructions on how to use the tool can be found in the following documents.   You can click on the setting icon at the bottom of the video to select your preferred language.

To excuse an absence, please email chase.bailey@jeffco.k12.co.us (preferred method) or call the attendance line at (303) 982-0710 - option 1. Calls will be taken from the attendance line from 8am to 1pm. If they are not taken off before 1pm, they will be taken off the following day.

When calling or leaving a message, please include the following:

• Student’s first and last name (please spell the last name)
• Student’s grade level
• Who is calling with a contact number
• Date and time frame of the absence
• Reason for the absence

Please remember that it is the parent’s responsibility to excuse any and all absences within 24 hours, per Jeffco policies.

Single-period absences are excused only when verified by official documentation, such as a note from a doctor or orthodontist. 

If your child is incorrectly marked absent or tardy (mistakes happen), we ask that your student advocate for themselves and talk to the teacher directly, in person or via email. The attendance secretary cannot change their attendance record without instruction from the teacher. 

Students will not be excused from classes to complete assignments or to prepare for other classes, including tests or projects. If a student is in the building, they are expected to be in their scheduled class.

If your student will miss more than one day, you can leave one message including all dates on the first day. There is no need to call every day.

If your student will miss more than three days of class due to a trip or other circumstances that you know about ahead of time, a prearranged absence form can be picked up in the main office and should be submitted 3 days prior to the absence.

10th, 11th & 12th graders leaving for an appointment may leave during lunch or passing period, but can only be excused with a doctor's note. The note should be given to the attendance office by noon the following day. If the student does return to school, please have them check in at the attendance office with a note upon return so we may update their attendance.

Early Release: 

All 6th - 10th graders who will be released early must be signed out by their parent, guardian or other member on the contact list in Infinite Campus to be excused for that time period. 

Juniors & Seniors may sign themselves out at the attendance office but it will not be excused until a parent emails/calls to excuse them.

When putting a request into our new online system, emailing or leaving a message to have an early release pass sent to your child during class, we need at least one hour’s notice. If your student is needed within one hour, please call the main desk line at 303-982-0604.
